  • Obtain a near polish finish on your tools or knives with the Shapton Glass Sharpening Stone, 6000 Grit. This advanced sharpening stone is best used on edges that have already been honed on a coarser grit. Shapton uses a technology which makes its sharpening stone both harder than similar manufactured ceramic water stones. All Shapton products are made with a finely-graded cutting media that deteriorates much more slowly than competitor water stones which uses aluminum oxide and silicon carbide in their products. This Shapton stone is splash-and-go as it does not need any prior soaking before use.

Shapton uses an advanced proprietary technology in all of its sharpening stone products so that all its honing mediums are consistent for any type of shear, knife, tool or straight razor which needs sharpening.

Shapton Glass Sharpening Stone, 6000 Grit

When used in the proper progression (ie. not mixed with two other stone brands like the other review here) this Shapton stone, and Shaptons in general remove steel very quickly and leave a fine, consistent scratch free pattern that is ideal for straight razors.

Shapton Glass Sharpening Stone, 6000 Grit

I bought this stone in conjunction with a chosera 2000 and naniwa 12000. I do not like this stone, it does not feel right for straight razor sharpening. It failed to give me a sharp edge but left many scratches. I believe it is not working for hard steels. I want to sell mine and never buy shapton again.
