This is my first boar brush. Habitually, I use a silvertip badger brush. I can tell you that is an awesome quality brush. The wood handle is fantastic. If I compare this boar brush to a silvertip brush, it has a lot more backbone. It holds less water, so when you are doing a face lather, don't remove all the water, it will help. Give it some time to break it. You can buy it with your eyes closed. As usual, Fendrihan shipping is lighting fast & very well packed.
You’ve all read the great reviews about Semogue brushes, especially the Owner’s Club knots and handles. I’ve owned the 830 — and this is a huge step up in terms of lathering quality, softness of bristles, and ergonomic handle. I’ve used it for about 12 shaves so far and it’s breaking in nicely. If you want one boar brush, this is the one. Forget the Omegas. Forget the other Semogues. Get the Owner’s Club and you’re done.
This is a high quality shaving brush with great bristles and beautifully crafted cherry wood handle. I strongly recommend it.
My review is more about Semogue than this articular brush as it seems lots of people love it. Mine has been losing 5 or six bristles everytime I shave with it for five months. Semogue finds this acceptable and will not do anything. I shipped it back to Fendrihan and they are willing to give me 85% of the purchase price as store credit. The whole thing leaves a bad taste in my mouth. My omega boar I bought for 10$ at the drugstore a year ago hasn't lost a bristle since the first week.
I had purchased the Semogue Owners Club Bristle with Cherry wood handle for 2 reasons. I like the natural beauty of wood and I had read nothing but positive reviews about the knot. The brush is very attractive and given a short break in period the Semogue OC is a gentle but firm face latherer. I'm picky and I can't find a thing wrong with it. It whips up a thick, frothy bowl of lather that looks like my mothers meringue and it can do pretty much the same job in your palm or on your face.
