  • The Semogue 1305 Shaving Brush features a beautiful tri-color wood handle with a timeless design. The brush is filled with natural boar bristles of superior quality. Superior boar bristles, with their added stiffness, exfoliate the skin and contribute to make a perfect brush for those that like a scrubby feeling with their shave (though the bristles will soften with time and usage). All Semogue brushes feature a metal ring as a hallmark of uncompromising quality; the ring is there as an added measure to hold the bristles in place snugly.

Semogue is a family operated business with a tradition of brush-making passed on from father to son for generations. The brush master is at the head of the business and ensures that the highest standards are upheld in the brush-making process.

Nice brush.

This is my first shave brush. I didn’t know what to get, so after reading reviews, I decided to get this one. I’ve used it a bunch since getting it and really like it. Works well. Some bristles have fallen out, but not too much to notice. Very pleased k

Fantastic but not klutz-proof

This is a fantastic brush all around. I was originally leery of using boar bristles because they look so wiry, but by the time it had several shaves under its belt it became supple and soft. Out of all the soaps I threw at it, this bad boy creates a perfect lather every time. My only gripe is that it only took one minor drop into the sink to chip the handle. Not the end of the world or anything, but in knowing how much of a klutz I can be, it feels inevitable that further dings are in store for it. But, for the price I guess it can only be expected.

Comparable to Badger

I am a badger guy with many brushes, mostly silvertip, in my shaving arsenal. I recently got interested in trying a boar bristle brush and after an arduous research bought Semogue 1305. Yes, it takes a while to beak in and the smell is not really bothersome. Once broken in, you will end up with a soft brush superior in lathering and no smell to speak of with a fraction of the cost of a silvertip badger. believe it or not, I am using this brush more often than my fancy silvertip Simpson's Chubby 2 in best or my silvertip Kent BLK8. But as they say YMMV... Try it and you wont be disappointed.

Love My 1305 - Alas Not a Long-Term Companion 5 Stars for Nearly 10 Years.]

After nearly 10 years of ownership, the knot in my beloved 1305 has split and the entire brush rendered useless. A sad day to be sure as this is one of the best brushes for soaps that I have owned. I often do a single or double pass shave in the mornings before work and found this as my go-to for most days. I have to admit that I didn't find it as good with creams as a badger brush, nor did I find it held enough lather for 3 or 4 passes - nevertheless, this was a great little performer. Now I am vacillating back and forth as to what to replace it with -- another Semogue, but which one????? Decisions, decisions.
