Running with the innovative design of the R41, Muhle's R41 Twist safety razor with open comb does more than just trade on its good looks. An open-comb concept gives an aggressive shave for the experienced wet-shaver, and is especially recommended for those with thick or coarse hair for a particularly close shave. The gap between the teeth helps keep the blade clear of stubble and residue, making it easier to clean and maintain.
The difference comes when changing blades; simply twist the bottom of the handle, and the cap comes off, while the comb stays safely in place. This allows the user to change blades effortlessly, and the precision mechanics means there's no need to worry about parts failure. All Muhle razors are made for connoisseurs with high standards, and come in high-quality chrome plating.
With a definite heft to it and a long handle, this razor is the perfect implement for the man who enjoys precision tools - designed to last, but without compromising on looks, either.

Following proper technique and a light touch, this razor has eliminated nearly of all my previous shaving issues (ingrowns, irritation, redness). I settle for 2 passes (one with the grain, and one across) and end up with less irritation than any other razor. If you have the type of beard that snags on an edwin jagger de89 (even with a sharp blade), you can't go wrong with the R41. Fewer passes with a more aggressive razor leads to a closer shave without bugging your skin so much. I currently own the Twist version and the rose gold version of the R41. Both give great shaves while the twist looks more impressive and has a heavier weight. It looks like the r41 grande but with a twist mechanism on the handle. The two piece design is flawless and I never have blade alignment issues. Yes I approached this razor with caution but the rewards far outweigh any hesitation I've had and it's become my daily driver. Still can't go against the grain with it on some areas of my neck, but I don't feel like I'm sacrificing too much closeness. One or two light passes is all I'll ever need!
I bought this as my 2nd razor, after getting the best closed-comb razor (Merkur Progress) as it was adjustable which Iiked a lot but then... I found myself using it most of the time at the setting 4/5 so almost at maximum aggressiveness but then I would lack the advantage of having an open-comb, which let more cream reach the blade, something necessary when you get an aggressive cut in order to compensate. The lenght and weight is just perfect. I like my stuff heavy as it feels more solid and you can simply use the natural gravity to shave so no risk of cutting yourself since you won't need to apply extra pressure. It looks so gorgeous and it is well worth it to pay the extra to get the 2 piece design that is sturdier. What's +15-20$ for something that could last you for a lifetime? So far I've only shaved my thick 4 days beard with the default Mühle blade that isn't as sharp as the Feather I always use but still, I haven't cut myself at all anywhere even though it was my first time with an open-comb! I still wouldn't recommend this to a beginner but once you've mastered the art of shaving with a DE and you ain't getting any blood for at least 4-5 time in a row with a closed-comb, then it's time to upgrade imo! In summary, this razor blows everything else and is really worth the price. It's a piece of art as well and it's (Made in Germany) for real, not just designed there then done in China. There isn't much choice for open-combs so this is by far the best. I can't see myself using anything else, unless one day I feel like trying a staright razor but then it's another game and much pricier!
I am very impressed with this razor. Great razor for an experienced DE shaver.
Simply the best razor I have ever used. Don't be afraid of the agressive shave.
This is my first open comb razor. At first I was afraid of some reviews I had seen about the agressive shave this razor gives. They couldn't have been more wrong. With a little extra care I got the best shave ever. The weight makes it feel good in the hand and easy to control. I can't wait for it come out in rose gold.
