Hey you guys... whoever bought this razor please write a review. I seem to be the only one. Anyway, having got the knack of using this razor, I tried one of my adjustable Merkurs. I dialed it up to about 80%. I never would have dared go there before. Amazingly I was able to complete a nick free, very close shave. So I guess what I am saying is that this Joris is a DE razor permanently set to a high setting that one might use on an adjustable razor. It gives a great close shave, but you have to pay attention to what you are doing.
Review #3...Well, I haven't nicked myself in over 2 weeks. Excellent close shave, but not for newbies. Once I learned how to use this razor, I am very pleased with it. I see that it is presently sold out. I hope that we will soon see some more reviews on this razor.
Well, I finally managed a nick free shave. I have to hold the handle gently and let the head do all the work. If I apply any pressure to the head, it's not a pretty sight. Great close shave but I don't like having to be so focused. I would really like to have an experienced straight razor guy try one of these and write a review. Anyway, I would repeat what I said in the first review. IMHO this is a straight razor disguised as a DS razor. Amazingly close shave but you have to pay attention to what you are doing. Not for DS newbies.
OMG, I swear this is a straight razor disguised as a DS razor. Closest shave I've ever gotten. Although I have to pay close attention to every stroke, especially on small curvy areas, (under nose) and over wrinkles. (I'm old) I haven't managed a nick free shave yet, but I'm getting better. Maybe I'll try an Astra blade next time instead of a Feather. Good feel and weight, blade fits in and lines up nicely. Head tightens down completely with no springyness. This would probably be an ideal razor for someone with a coarse beard. Kind of expensive, but hey, you get what you pay for, right? I would compare it to the high-end Edwin Jaggers, but the EJ's are more forgiving. I'll try an Astra blade and post again if it's any different.
