Love it.

Lathers very well and makes for smooth shave, the only thing that I would change is the plastic on the soap!

This soap is exceptional... with the right loading.

I feel compelled to review this soap, given all the negative reviews out there. This is hard, hard soap that requires just a bit of work up front to set up a fantastic shave. 1. Soak the puck in hot water for a few minutes/while you shower and soak your brush. 2. Drain the water off the top of the puck, leaving just a film, knock out most of the water on your brush, but keep it damp. 3. Load the brush holding the bowl/puck sideways or on an angle to allow excess water to drain. Load for a good minute or slightly more. If you think the lather that’s building up is to watery, keep loading. 4. Eventually you will get a smooth, slick lather on the brush. Boom, you’re good to go. Skip a lathering bowl and apply brush to face. If you lather is a bowl, you run the risk of adding to much water. 5. You’ll never get a big pillowy lather with this soap, or at least i can’t...but you don’t need that. The blade glides against your skin, not a cm of lather. You’ll have enough lather for 3 passes. This soap is extremely slick and allows for exceptional razor glide. I’ve personally had exceptional shaves with this soap. I have sensitive skin on my neck and i find the coconut soap to work for me. If you purchase this soap, I hope that you enjoy it as much as I do.

Geo. F. Trumper Coconut Shaving Soap with Wooden Bowl

I decided to give GFT soaps a try. This Coconut soap has a wonderful, light scent. However, despite numerous attempts and variations, I have not been able to get a thick luxurious lather with GFT soaps. Every time the lather I get seems fragile and dissipates rapidly (by rapidly I mean the lather on one side of my face is nearly gone by the time I have finished a pass on the other side). Perhaps the flaw is my technique, but I am able to lather up other soaps such as DR Harris and Tabac with no trouble (using a dry brush, soaking the soap and adding only drops of water at a time). Or maybe this is just how the GFT is meant to lather. Two stars for me because I did have an expectation of a luxurious lather for a soap in this price range.

This was my first shaving soap ever and I am glad I picked GFT. The bowl is beautiful, and I am sure this will last for months and months even with daily use. Coconut smell is quite amazing. Distinct yet subtle. Rare that something expensive such as a luxury product would deliver on endurance as well as all other criteria. Now I just have to avoid temptation to buy to much GFT stuff to soon.
