I've have only been shaving with a brush & creams for about a year. My 1st brush was a boar hair that no matter what I did always smelled funky. Then I found a very soft synthetic online that I have been using for the majority of the time. I finally broke down & decided to try a well established name in shaving products & WOW what a difference. While the cheapo synthetic I have is indeed just as soft, it in no way compares in heat & water retention. My 1st shave with Edwin Jaggers synthetic was closer, done in less time as it seemed to lather quicker, & frankly more enjoyable since the brush was always warm. Is it pricey? Sure, but not when compared to a silvertip brush of the same size. The only reason I am giving this brush 4 stars instead of 5 is because I have never used a genuine silver tip brush.
