Only used it once so far but I love it.
Meh. Disappointing in light of the reviews and the expectations they create. I was curious about the tallow, but it hasn’t had any magical effects that I’ve noticed. Yes, the almond scent is pleasant enough, but that’s pretty much where it stops impressing me. The lather is thin, insubstantial, lacking heft and firmness, and has little staying power. You can whip it up real good, on your face or in a bowl, but it just doesn’t last. You brush it on your face and 30 seconds later it's like it isn’t even there any more. It just seems to dissipate without providing the cushioning and protective effects you want in a shaving cream or soap. In contrast, some of the other products I’ve used produce lather thick enough to stand on, and just a teensy bit gives you enough for three full-face applications with no fading in the home stretch. The small size of the jar makes loading up your brush a messy exercise. (True, it’s just a quibble. On its own, not a deal-breaker.) And that wonderful slick feeling all those previous reviewers were raving about? Uh-uh. Bottom line, shaving is supposed to be relaxing. I don’t want to feel all nervous and hesitant about slicing myself when I put the razor to my face, and that’s what’s been happening when I lather up with this stuff. I won’t claim to be an expert (won’t see any shaving videos from me on Youtube any time soon), but I did watch a couple of other videos featuring the red Cella stuff, and the techniques weren’t that complicated. This is just one guy’s experience, mind, and YMMV given what you read in other reviews, but for me, Proraso and Cyril Salter have been much better in terms of both value and performance. I’ll definitely be getting more of them. This? Nah.
Great product! Wonderful aroma, luxurious lather, and great lubrication, all at a terrific price. What more could you want? I was worried that the strong almond aroma would stay right through the shave, but thankfully it faded quickly once the soap was lathered. It still had a wonderful presence, though.
Awesome soap, lathers really easily and is very slick. I love the almond sent, it’s bold but not overly strong. Also customer service and shipping were excellent, it’s a pleasure buying from this company.
The Cella Almond soap is very good. The lather works up quickly into a thick, creamy lather. The shave is very smooth and the aroma of the almonds is nice but not too strong. Very pleasant shaving experience. This is my second Cella product, the other being the Coconut soap. It too was a great soap for shaving.
