The tracking seems to end in central Canada then mysteriously pops up in B.C. on the delivery day. What's the point? The Edwin Jaggers razor is fantastic, might have to give up the straight razors. Have only used the Black Feathers, suits me fine.

Good all around

So far, so good. It's nice to have new safety razor blades to try out. This 50 piece package is a good assortment for a good price and arrived quickly. Absolutely no complaints.

Blade search

I’ve only been DE shaving for a couple of months now so I’m still into the process of finding my blade(s). Some I’ve eliminated, others I have to re-visit, but the sampler method is a good way to find what works from the many blades that are out there.

Great sampler of a wide range of blades

Every face and razor is different. This was my first venture into DE razors, so I wanted to get a sampling of what was out there. I was blown away by the differences between them, and how well they worked (or didn't) in the adjustable Rockwell 2C I bought. The included Rockwell blade didn't cut closely enough for my liking on the R1 setting, and on the R3, it turned my neck into a bloody mess, but the R3 setting was very nice and close, with little irritation and no razor bumps. The sampler pack could not arrive soon enough! First up, I tried the Feather, and it was like night and day. Great shave. I made the mistake of trying to get two shaves out of a blade. Now I know better. One and done. Next was Wilkinson. This was equally as good as the Feather, maybe a bit smoother and more comfortable. Third on my list was Astra. Also a very nice, very comfortable shave, with only minor bleeding and irritation. Then I tried Merkur. I couldn't even get through half of my face before I ditched it. I knew on the first stroke that it would be a rough shave, but I persisted. Bad move. I finished up the Merkur shave with a Derby, which was a little better, but still not as good as the first three, in my opinion. These are my first impressions, over a couple of weeks. I'm going to go back and run through the cycle again (leaving the Rockwell and Merkur blades out) to narrow down my preferences. But Feather, Wilkinson and Astra were all excellent. What blades I decide to stick with might come down to a matter of packaging. One of the main reasons I switched to a safety razor and DE blades, was to get away from disposable plastic. I was disappointed that so many of the blades shipped in retail blister packs, with a plastic blade dispenser. I love the Wilkinson and Feather blades, but if they only come packaged in plastic, then I will likely go with Astra.
