Got this razor about a week ago. I've been using a shavette for the past few years and wanted a real straight razor. It does not come shave ready you will need to hone and strop it, trust me I tried it will not shave out of the box. I bought a two sided leather strop with green honing compound from a garden and tool shop. After watching some youtube videos a quick (20 min) hone and strop it was ready to shave. So far so good with the shavette I would get a nick about every other shave not one nick so far. The fit and finish is nice on the razor and the handle feels nice in the hands. I was worried about the French point but that is one of the things I like best it's so easy to get the hairs right under your nose with this where with the shavette not so much. $40 is a great price you don't have to pay more to get your feet wet in the straight razor shaving game.
