This brush is one of very poor quality. Like another reviewer I immediately had problems with the threads binding up to such a degree that I had to use vice-grips to get the two pieces apart. I continued to the use the brush being very careful not to over tighten it. Every time I use the brush to lather up badger hair falls out of it; a few hairs would be no big deal, but this continues to happen and I've been using the brush for a few months now. The brush handle is also extremely brittle. A soft fall from sink to floor shattered the end off of the handle attachment (travel housing piece). My recommendation is that if you want a travel brush stick with a metal or wooden handled version ... this brush is not robust enough to be packed in a suitcase or a backpack in which it might get knocked around.
I bought this brush to keep in my kit bag for when I travel but it is so good that I use it at home too ! The brush is very soft but has quite a bit of "body" to it and feels great on the face, perhaps because of its shorter loft ? In any case, It whips up a great lather with creams (which is what I use when away from home) and gives my floppier Kent BK4 a run for its money. The handle is of a good size and very comfortable to hold, especially when bowl lathering in, say, the large Fendrihan apothecary mug. I myself have not experienced the issue with the threads mentioned by a previous reviewer but in any case the construction is such that there is no need to screw the brush together very tightly. Another fine Fendrihan product !!
Great and speedy service
This is a good badger travel brush. It takes up less room than the pill bottle I was using to carry my cheap boar brush in before when I travelled and makes a really nice thick lather. The previous reviewer stated his gets stuck, so I simply slipped a rubber washer between the top of the threads and bottom of the knot and haven't had any problems with screwing and unscrewing the pieces. Very happy with this purchase!
Exactly what I was looking for in terms of features: - Badger - Travel case - Non-metallic for airport security purposes - Classy look and high quality However there is one major flaw upon using it that was evident within the first 5 minutes of use; the threads bind very easily and very tightly! It happened in the course of regular use first (required vice-grips and a towel to get it loose), but upon testing it again after that it continues to happen. Gingerly and carefully thread it into either open or closed position, then just a feather touch past wobbly and its completely get-out-the-vice-grips seized. I'm going to use it for a bit and see if I can find a solution before I decide if it should go back, I'm hoping the material needs time to wear a bit and loosen up. Such a shame since this is a beautiful brush aside from that.
