Super plush, the Rooney Heritage Collection Stubby 1 Super Badger Handmade Shaving Brush gets many positive comments on the shaving forums. The knot is very big, particularly when contrasted with the handle, and this makes for a nice brush for face lathering. Because of the denseness of the hairs this brush has a strong backbone and good exfoliating action as well as superior whisker lifting ability. The faux bone handle is short but easy to grip with its graceful curves and encircling ridge, in homage to the Rooneys of the mid 19th century.
An R.A. Rooney & Sons shaving brush is always handcrafted, a tradition going back over two hundred years. Today’s Heritage Collection brushes from Rooney give the company’s past its due, offering the Canadian wet shavers of today a taste of the superior designs of 1850s brushes created in the refined and generously knotted manner, high domed in the customary London style.
Rooney super badger brushes are often referred to as “super silvertip badger” by other vendors. As Rooney does not label any of their brushes as silvertip, if you’re looking for Rooney’s highest quality hair, you have found it here in their super badger range.

Wow!! What an amazing brush. It's a baby monster which produces so much lather. My favourite brush by far and I own quite a few high end brushes. Buy it. You won't regret it. Rooney makes amazing brushes.
Purchased this with some hesitation after reading a review about Rooney brushes loosing a lot of hair. It hasn’t shed a single hair in the two weeks I have used it. Lathers wonderfully, holds moisture very well, great on both soap and cream, and is the perfect ballance between the soft feel of a larger super badger chubby and a firm bristle. It is now tied with my Simpson for favourite. Highly recommend.
I have every kind of high-end brush on the market today, or at least a couple of offerrings from each manufacturer. Or had. Once I got my first Rooney Heritage Stubby I started selling off my Simpsons and Kents and what not's. It Is the Holy Grail of brushes, along side Morris & Forndran. There's good reason you hardley ever see one on any Shaving forums B/S/T section.
First off, I own over half a dozen brushes ranging from $50-$400 custom made for me brushes. This brush was always on my list of must owns, so I bought one. It is everything the reviews say. Perfect for face lathering, easy to hold and a beauty to look at. But... After 6 months the amount of hair it looses is insane. At first it was one or two a shave, now its 6-10. I take care of my brushes and this is the only one i have ever owned that is this bad. I want so badly to use it and love it but i just cant. I constantly find expensive badger hair on my counter and pull it off my face after i lather. I did not buy it from fendrihan and the store i bought it from is going to exchange it for me. This brush is the perfect combination of everything that you could ask for in a face lathering brush. If you get one that does not shed you will surly love it for life.
First off, the Super Badger knot's colour bands are more beautiful and vibrant than those on a run of the mill brush. The washed out online pictures don't do it justice at all. Secondly, my brush lost a total of two hairs right out of the box and that was it. I was a bit worried after reading another review of a Rooney, but without cause. It's every bit as good as my Simpsons Fifty Series brush at retaining its hairs and I also love its flatter fan shape. It's soft as velvet when you're painting the lather on, yet when you want to work the lather between your beard hairs or pick up hard soap, no problem, this has ample backbone, too. Short lofts like this are quite rare, which is baffling, since it helps the lather end up where it's meant to go. You really get an idea how dense and big the knot is when it's good and wet. I can't imagine anyone needing a bigger knot ! Minimal bloom keeps the brush looking great on your vanity. As for the handle, it's best suited to face lathering, which is why I chose this brush. Other Rooney's have longer handles for all you strictly cream users out there. Don't be put off by negative reviews anywhere. Just get a Rooney. Luckily Fendrihan has 'em !
